Transportation Services
In
accordance with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) rules and
regulations regarding passenger transportation services, Medic One is
recognized as a licensed transportation vendor, meeting or exceeding the
minimum level of expectation set forth by MDOT.

Non-Emergency Vehicle (NEV)
Provides non-emergent transportation services to ambulatory and wheelchair
bound persons who are alert, oriented or accompanied by family
or a facility’s staff member. Transportation services are provided with
new or newer model Ford Vans with raised roofs and hydraulic powered
factory installed wheelchair lifts, complete with manufacturer restraint
systems. Drivers are not permitted to transport clients up or down
steps/stairs unless location is outfitted with handicap accessible devices
such as ramps. Drivers will respond in a recognizable uniform, are
customer service focused and provide services in a professional and
courteous manner.
Basic Life Support Ambulance (BLS)
Provides non-emergent and emergent transportation services to persons who
are stretcher bound or who require emergency intervention. BLS ambulances
are staffed with two (2) technicians who are licensed by the State of
Michigan as Emergency Medical Technicians and are able to provide: Airway
Management, BVM Ventilation, Oxygen Therapy, CPR, Splinting, Spinal
Immobilization, Control of Bleeding, Maintenance of Plain IV Fluids, and
rapid transport.
Advanced Life Support Ambulance (ALS)
Staffed with a Technician licensed by the State of Michigan as Emergency
Medical Technician Paramedic and a Technician licensed as an Emergency
Medical Technician Specialist, ALS ambulances are able to provide:
Advanced Airway Management including Endotracheal Intubation and
Mechanical Ventilator, Oxygen Therapy, CPR, IV Therapy, Medication
Therapy, EKG monitoring and intervention including, Pacing, Synchronized
Cardioversion and Defibrillation. ALS ambulances provide emergent and
non-emergent transportation services to persons who may require immediate
emergency intervention or advanced life support monitoring during
transport from one facility to another.
Bariatric Transportation Unit
The field of medicine concerned with the study of obesity, its causes,
prevention, and treatment, is known as Bariatrics. As medical
interventions become more readily available to obese clients in our
service area, Medic One Ambulance Service has committed itself to
developing a transportation system that is safe and reliable while at the
same time, respects and maintains a client’s dignity. Housed in our
headquarters located in Taylor, MI is the newest addition to our fleet,
The Bariatric Transportation Unit. With the comfort and safety of the
client and crew a first priority, the Bariatric Transport Unit has been
specially outfitted with the latest technology designed for the safe
transport of obese clients. Healthcare facilities may request a private
in-service of our Bariatric Transport Unit by contacting our offices and
scheduling a time when the vehicle can be brought to the requesting
facility.

Special Events
Medic One Ambulance Service offers dedicated, on-site ambulance stand-by
for special events that take place in our service area. Such events have
included: “Race For The Cure”, “Electronic Music Festival”, “Walk As
One”
“American Heart Walk”, various sporting events and local high school
football games. Ambulances and Crewmembers stage on site and are readily
available to respond in seconds to a potential medical or traumatic
emergency.
Service Area
Medic One proudly serves healthcare facilities in Wayne County, Monroe
County, Oakland County, and provides contracted 911 Emergency Medical
Services in the City of Highland Park, MI. Although Medic One Ambulance
Service is equipped to respond to the most critical illnesses and
injuries, private residents are encouraged to activate the Emergency
Medical System in their area by dialing
911.
